Out the door by 5 and found it to be dark, very foggy and lots of humidity.
While walking The dirt and gravel road I came upon huge fields of confused sunflowers searching for the sun.
Finally found a Cappuccino at the first open bar then off into the countryside once again.
I later began walking the last couple of miles on a road paralleling the waters edge and eventually made it into the city center of Bolsena, a beautiful little city that seems to be a best kept secret in 🇮🇹 Italy.
I later had dinner, a drink in hand and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the water.

Bob, your confused (great description) sunflowers in the fog photo is stunning..love it..what a sight.🌻😶‍🌫️
I really enjoyed Bolsena...I only had the afternoon but it was like a mini break. It was hydrangea🪻festival time & the whole place was in full bloom.
Thanks for being the 'trigger' for happy memories. 🙏

Same here, Kaz. I thought the sunflower picture was awesome.
We spent two nights in Bolsema in the historical area🏰 and then walked on farther spending another night near the south end of the lake. It definitely felt like vacation. Yes, happy memories indeed! 🙂

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Loving all of these updates, as I am toying with the VF for the fall. Perhaps you covered this in earlier threads (e.g. when you were in the Po Valley), but how have the mosquitoes been? I heard that it's a terrible year for 'em.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
@antepacem - I was there in earlier June. They were out and about, but do not let that be a deterant to walking this beautiful route.
Like anything else in life there are ways around or through all difficulties, and mosquitoes are only a minor and temporary set back to your happiness.

I am a wuss and mosquitos swarming would throw me into depression...I would not be happy. Horse flies and gnats are high on my list, too; some would say I am spoiled.
I see I am skiing downhill oing fast off-piste.🤣

We (my husband and I) are in Peronne right now on the Via Francigena. After the camino frances and camino portugues we wanted to try something different. Last year we walked from Canterbury to...
Anyone walked south from Rome? This looks so interesting and in the south I know that it is less costly.
