    Annual September Bed Race

I talked to several people who had not found a place to sleep in villages between Logroño and Burgos and had to take taxis to the next available bed.

    Rucksack transfer

I did SJPdP to Roncesvalles in two days, using luggage transport which I arranged the day of my arrival in St Jean. After that, I carried myself. I am now on day 10 and have decided to use luggage transfer for either stretches with much elevation, or very long distances. I am 72 yo.

Planning shorter walks from SJPP to Pamplona - places to stay off stage

I am in Ponte la Reina now. My favorite sofar has been the donativo in Zabaldika, about 8 km before Pamplona. I would also recommend Borda instead of Orisson.

Thank you for asking. I came across them today in Estafeta and was also wondering.

Sleeping bag OR just a liner??

I am in the first week now. I barely slept in Roncesvalles because I was cold in my liner. I would definitely advise to bring something warm.

What ailments to expect after many days of walking?

I would recommend starting with shorter distances and building up in a few days. That way your body adjusts to the walking and the weight on your back. My knees are doing much better since I left my hiking boots at home and walk on trail runners. Buen camino!

    Hiking poles in Santiago

I stayed twice at hotel Las Campanas de San Juan in SdC, close to the cathedral, and both times there were loads of left behind poles.

‘The pilgrim hooked on the Galician language and less travelled caminos’

I speak quite some Spanish, French and Italian and did a few months of Portuguese on Duolingo before starting the Camino Português. I was amazed at how easy it was to understand galician. To me, it looked like a combination of Spanish and Portuguese.
