Am I being too greedy or ambitious? Le Puy AND start in Geneva?

I enjoyed it…thought it was a nice city after 13 long days. Here is a link to my blogpost for that day…might give you some ideas. I also normally don’t plan many rest days 😊 http://caminolongwalk.blogspot.com/2013/10/rest-day-oct-9-le-puy-en-velay.html?m=0

Am I being too greedy or ambitious? Le Puy AND start in Geneva?

Agreed the pace in retrospect was really fast…I joined a group who became life long friends and they essentially pulled me along 😂 No question I would take more time today. The Via Gebennensis was not busy when I walked it however the countryside was really something. I have never been able to...

Am I being too greedy or ambitious? Le Puy AND start in Geneva?

In 2013 I walked the Via Gebennensis from Geneva to Le Puy en Velay in 13 days. Then a rest day in Le Puy en Velay and the Via Podiensis to St Jean Pied de Port in 27 days. I was 56 now 67 so no idea what it would take me now 😂 In 2022 I walked the Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago in...

newcomer with questions about Le Puy-en Velay to Conques

It’s a really nice route...I walked it in 2013. You may find some info of interest in my blog https://caminolongwalk.blogspot.com/ which has a blogpost for each day starting in Le Puy en Velay to St. Jean Pied de Port. I had a technical issue along the way so a number of blogposts were made...

    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

Be respectful of why someone is walking a Camino. They may wish to share why…they may not…perhaps they do not yet know why. Whatever the reason it is their own and it’s the right one for them.

    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

One of my learnings is TL;DR which I understand is an initialism (another word that I have never heard of…very sheltered life here 😂). The reason this is so special is that it would apply to most if not ALL readers of many of my blogposts. I plan on introducing TL;DR in a future blogpost (was...

    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

I really don’t want to get kicked off the Camino Forum 😂 I am having WAY too much fun reading and admittedly learning. I will however update my graph but for personal reasons only 😊

    Anybody use speedgoats?

I wore HOKA Speedgoat V5 on both the Camino San Salvador and Camino Primitivo in 2022 and they were great for me. The Vibram sole was especially welcome at times. Wore the Speedgoat’s again on the UK Coast to Coast in 2023…good results however a couple of days in the Lake District hip waders...

Some difficulty now (Feb 2024) on the camino de invierno

I was having trouble following the discussion earlier in this thread however does the following in a thread today (this one) essentially say “no more detour required?”. I know this should be self evident but…better to ask than assume I “got it”. Appreciated Guy "Ok, so the official route...

    GPX File Question

@islandwalker Elaine - Brilliant! Similar to you helping me navigate Wikilocs you have done it again! I have as yet not tried to split the GPX file however my initial question about Elevation Gains/Losses by stage is now answered. Super easy ...Load the GPX file saved on the Mac and then click...

    GPX File Question

Thanks Rick and @DoughnutANZ for your quick and helpful replies. I just googled « text editor » and there are multiple apps for IOS so will play with these. Sounds from what both of you have said it’s kind of brute force editing once I have the GPX file in the text editor software…totally fine...

    GPX File Question

Hi...this is quite funny...at least to me. I am looking at a track from Forwalk from Lucca to Rome on the Via Francigena...you know just for fun ☺️. No problem I download the GPX file into Wikilocs. I now have a file with 415 kms over 15 stages with total elevation gains 7,325m and losses...

Pocket coin pouch for those EU coins?

😂 Yes I had quite the stash of Canadian lapel pins when I started my long walk from Rorschach Switzerland…2,000 or so…a few bundles sent in advance to a few locations along the Camino routes…and then all plans went south 🙄. In the end I did hand them out so no lapel pins left. Was thinking a...
