    Zero-drop shoes and the camino

I wear Topo's Ultraventures, with a 5mm drop. These work much better for me than the Altras zero drop, which caused cramps in my calfs, and leg fatigue. So, 5mm does seem to make a difference. I'm a huge fan of Topo Athletics now. On my fifth(?) pair now. They don't last forever, the tread...

    Shoes ... Large toe box

The Topo Athletic Ultraventure 4 recently came out and I bought a pair. My previous Caminos have been in Hokas, Altras, and the Topo Ultraventure 3. The Ultraventure 4 is my favorite ever hiking shoe right now after 25+ miles. Similar to the Ultraventure 3 but with a softer midsole. Same...

    Shoes ... Large toe box

Three Camino so far. One with Oboz Sawtooth which I liked, one with Topo Ultraventure 3 and one with Topo mountain racer. The Mountain racer has a better vibram sole and will likely last longer, but I found the Ultraventure more comfortable.

    Shoes ... Large toe box

...held up much better than the other shoes. Unfortunately, therebis only a regular width which isvsimilar to the wide Hoka. I just purchased a pair of wide Topo Ultraventures. Have not had a chane tovtry them yet. Wide Topos are hard to find. My wish is that Topo would make a wide...

    Shoes ... Large toe box

No cushion in Altras. You must not have tried the Altra Olympus!

    Shoes ... Large toe box

...and when I got a pair of Speedgoats I quickly settled into those instead of getting another pair of Topos. But recently the Topo Ultraventure has caught my eye. I haven't purchased them, but it has a wide toe box, and, unlike some of their other models, isn't zero drop but rather has the...

Pads for ball of foot 👣

I'm coming late into this but my wife has the same problem and has been very comfortable with the Topo Athletic Ultraventure women's shoes. For work reasons she lives abroad part of the year and there where she is she has to walk a long piece of road every day to work and back (18-19 thousand...

Pads for ball of foot 👣

I too have to manage metarsal foot pain. I am training for my second Camino and have recently switched from Hoka Speed Goats to Topo Ultraventure 3's. Both have great stack height that help the metatarsel management but the Topo's have a wide toe box compared to the narrow Hoka's. The Topo's...

    Favorite end of day shoes

I used to carry lightweight Keen "water shoes" when I used boots. But now that I've switched to trail runners (Topo Ultraventure) with quick dry uppers, I just change socks after my shower and put the same old shoes back on. I've found them to be so comfortable and light, I don't need evening...

    Wet hiking shoes

I walked a week in rain last summer wearing Topo Ultraventures. Like you, I worried how this was going to work out. Turns out, just fine. Feet got wet, stayed wet during the rain. The water created a comfortable squishy-ness in the shoes. Had no real issues other than feet feeling heavier...

    Topo Wearers!

...5 June. I've absorbed a lot of wisdom from the forum and have thus changed away from my original gore-tex boot plan to my brand new Topo Ultraventure 3's :) I'm usually a UK size 12. The Topo size UK 12 are longer than all my other brands - and so much wider (I'm looking at you Hoka!). After...

LIVE from the Camino Starting in Bilbao - a six week Camino

I have used Topo ultraventures. Not the most cushioned shoes. So will have to do some research when I get back. I did not like how wobbly the Hoka’s felt. And love the wide fit of the Topo’s.

    Topo Wearers!

I just got back from 2 weeks in Spain on the Camino del Norte with a pair of Topo Ultraventure 3s. In five prior 2 week trips, I've tried Merrel Moabs initially and the last two with Hoka Challengers (wide with Superfeet Green insoles). These Topos were the best I've tried. I got one small...

    Topo Wearers!

I’m not done with you yet! Lol…want to try an experiment? Take an innersole out from an older pair of shoes. The more worn down the better. Then remove the new one. Put the old one in and the new innersole on top of it. If this is not too snug to the point it’s uncomfortable, take a hike with...

    Topo Wearers!

Thank you. I have seen podiatrists (for two separate and years ago, past injuries) and do not require an orthotic.I don't believe this issue I am experiencing has something to do with my actual foot. Unless I have a weird achilles. ha ha! Topo customer service provided this link to different...

    Topo Wearers!

You might consider visiting a recommended podiatrist in your area, too. They can be immensely helpful in diagnosing and treating foot conditions. I got orthotics that have worked very well for me.

    Topo Wearers!

Hmmm...that sucks! Is it giving you a blister thru your socks or do your socks not cover the back of your ankle? Post a photo here of your set up on your feet. I want to understand this better. My Tabios cover my ankle so it has never been an issue. But yes, isn't it amazing how well they repel...

    Topo Wearers!

ShellToucher. It's me from over on the video comments. RE: my new Topos. I did get the ladies MT Racer. They are black, so not a dumb color. :D The trim color is sort of a peachy mauve and fairly subtle and not dumb. But you wanted to know what I thought. Pros: cushy and less fatigue for my...

EPIC! And yes, TOPOs rock, I don’t think you will have any problems…but if you do, please let us know back here in the thread how you fared! I’ll be on the Norte or Primitivo while u are there! Buen Camino Jonesy!

    Topo Wearers!

Loved your video! Thanks for sharing! I did a first test run in muy Ultraventure 3s at work this week. Wore them with wrightsocks for 6.5 hours straight and felt great. Very cushioned, super grippy, comfortable and breathable. I’m pretty happy with them so far! I ended up just going up half a...
