    Folding up an Altus?

Trying to do this on my phone, so apologies if it posts twice! I can’t figure out how to fold up my Altus poncho. Is there a separate pouch that it stuffs into, or does it fold in on itself? (I have the Atmospheric H30.) When I whipped it out and put it on a couple days in a gale, I was...

    sizing of altus ponchos

I am 5'3" and just received a small. It hits about mid calf with a small (15L) pack on. There is plenty of room for a bigger pack with the pack portion opened up, so I don't think a larger pack would pull the length up very much, if any.

Looking for a used ALTUS Poncho

Hi, I've got one you could have, but I'm in the UK. Would it be difficult and expensive to post? And how would you pay me? I'll have to check the size - it may be medium..

    Poncho - Leon?

yes you are correct. I bought one there in April. At the time they weren’t on display but had them when I asked. They may have just been received.

    Waterproof Jacket/Coat

I am planning my third attempt at the VDLP next year and am just getting things and thoughts together. Waterproof jackets are perplexing me. For my first camino in 2016 I found a Montane Minimus jacket that was very long in the body and covered ones bottom/butt and weighed a mere 245g...

Do I need better rain gear? (or mental strategy for rain)

Heavy rain today from SJPDP to Roncesvalle and I was thanking God for my Altus poncho and gaiters in the incredible, mind boggling mud on the descent. It was wonderful!

    Where to buy Altus Poncho

There was a fellow Pilgrim that posted a photo of the CaminoTec store there other day…. I wanted to DM her and ask her to buy me a H30/Altus poncho😂😂😂and ship it to me…

Would it be overkill to bring both a rain jacket and the Altus poncho in Oct/Nov?

You don’t need both - just bring the Altus. My mom loved the Altus - she wore it as both wind jacket and rain jacket. It became her favorite piece of gear. We walked the CF from Pamplona to Santiago in March and April of this year and she had it on as we walked thru snow, rain, sleet and...

    Altus products in forum store?

I've ordered an Altus poncho! And seem to have caused the materialisation of a February Primitivo from Lugo... as part of my *work*! Looking forward to the arrival of the poncho with time to test it out in garbage weather here in November! Thanks, Ivar -- your pricing was better than any other...

Am I being too greedy or ambitious? Le Puy AND start in Geneva?

I have decided to embrace the power of extending my Camino by starting in Geneva! I will walk the Gebennensis AND the Podiensis - I think what finally decided me was I felt that at age 66 when I start, it is likely I will not have the chance to come this way again (although never say never)...

Would it be overkill to bring both a rain jacket and the Altus poncho in Oct/Nov?

I just came back back from walking a Camino April 16-may 3. I had my rain jacket, poncho with me for exactly the same reasons. Also an Osprey Sirius pack. Glad I had both.

Being prepared for the rain 🌧️

I am in your boat, having walked several Caminos but never in winter. I will be on the Camino in a little over 5 weeks. I did one gear test in hours of Asturian rain. What I learned: my decathlon raincoat didn't keep me completely dry (this one...

    Recent Smelly Pilgrim Test

Last November was a great test for my Merino top (it was like 70% merino and 30% who knows what). I had bought it about 4 years ago and have worn it many times. Almost daily on my caminos. As many of you know it rained like a mother on the Coastal CP and in Galicia last November. Every day it...

Do I need better rain gear? (or mental strategy for rain)

We are walking the CF now, off to Santa Domingo today. The thunderstorms are bringing heavy prolonged rain. I wouldn't want to be without my Altus poncho. Many people are opting for the bus! Buen Camino.

Raingear for late August early September

I walked the Camino Frances in mid April, starting from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. My lightweight Arcteryx Norvan rain jacket was perfect for the mixed weather I experienced - freezing cold driving rain and sleet, steady rain and moderate temperatures, and light rain in warmish temperatures. Plus...

Oh, and the monastery in Conque is a must-stay place on that camino!
