    Ponchos in Sarria?

The store that @mspath linked to carries the Altus "poncho" which has sleeves and a full zip front. That's the one that I would buy. https://www.peregrinoteca.com/poncho-altus-atmospheric-1-verde.html

    Altus Poncho/Rain Coat

Interesting that the actual weight is so much lower than the listed weight. 290g makes it much more attractive. And it's a nice bright colour unlike the current generation of Altus ponchos. (Even the yellow-green Altus is much too dull for my liking). Edit: Are you sure you are looking at the...

Looking for suggestions where to find an Altus poncho - they are sold out everywhree!

My experience has been similar. The amount of condensation you’ll get inside an Altus or any rain jacket or poncho has to do with how much ventilation there is and how much you perspire, which has to do with the shape you’re in and your walking pace. Slower pace and less sweating means less...

    Lucca to Siena February

Good advice. We'll have our Altus ponchos with winter gear. I am trying to keep the stages short for Phil who has struggled the last two Caminos and ended up shipping his pack. I don't think that is an option in winter in Italy, but we can always get a taxi if he can't go the distance.

Am I being too greedy or ambitious? Le Puy AND start in Geneva?

Hello! You have probably read my reports from my this year's via gebennensis, so I will just add this regarding the accommodation. There is a mix of gites d'etapes and family stays with some hotels/chambres d'hotes if you so wish. As you are planning to walk during the easter and may holidays...

    Altus Poncho/Rain Coat

Holy moly! I literally was just hunting for the Altus poncho weight for exactly the same reasons. Done to death? Maybe. But it just goes to show that the old adage, 'if you have a question, someone else probably does too,' holds true. Just as an aside, my thought was that the poncho sure...

Follow up to gear recommendations from Pilgrims

my Altus poncho came today! All I need now is a bra and some type of bottoms. Still trying to decide between leggings (tights) & shorts/skirt or convertible pants. Oh- and sticks - which I will buy in France. I'm also still not quite sure about shoes - as mentioned above.

    Where to buy Altus Poncho

You searched for Atlas poncho, not Altus poncho (possibly an autocorrect error.) The results that you got probably meant that those stores carry either atlases or ponchos.

To poncho or not to poncho?

Oh gosh, that must have been so disappointing.

Doing the Backstroke on the CF

If your ponchos aren't full coverage with sleeves I recommend reserving the Altus poncho/raincoat at Boutique du Pèlerine in SJPdP. It's great for keeping everything dry, and lightweight too https://www.boutique-du-pelerin.com/en/#/

Lost & Found Take care of your gear!

Let me preface this by saying please understand I am not picking on anybody, I fully understand that mistakes happen and how. Been there, done that. I have been astonished to see so many lost and found reports over the last two weeks. And not just little things : major items...

Doing the Backstroke on the CF

The bag-in-bag method, using various sizes of double zip lock bags work well for us, and help keep things dry in the shower. Also had great luck with discarded umbrellas in that they breath. Then again, I've seen several people looking very comfortable in T-shirt and shorts under an Altus...

Booked my flight, does this mean it's really happening?! Frances route from SJPP - Late Oct.-Dec (Solo walker from Missouri, USA)

The Altus poncho (which is really not a poncho at all, it's a raincoat with room for your backpack) really is pretty great. And it's not only a lot less expensive that the jacket you are considering, it's lighter weight! It's great because it keeps you and your gear dry. With a rain jacket...

Booked my flight, does this mean it's really happening?! Frances route from SJPP - Late Oct.-Dec (Solo walker from Missouri, USA)

Thanks for the booking.com suggestion. In the coming days I will look around at the wise Pilgrim app and gronze.com. I updated the thread title also, thanks! Good to know! Here is the jacket I have and was going to take. NF Dryzzle Not down and their highest waterproof level. I did look up...

    Definition of a Pilgrim 🤣

I don't have a thick wallet and I know for a fact that everything I bring on the camino I have been wearing for years on my caminos. If you go to closeouts on websites and amazon you can pick up things super cheap. For example, I have an REI backpack that I bought 4 years ago in their outlet...

Being prepared for the rain 🌧️

I just finished walking the CF which included 16 days of rain! I love my Altus poncho. I love my Altus poncho. I wore my usual hiking shoes and wore Sealskinz waterproof socks with wool toe socks - liners- underneath. No rain pants - just wore quick dry shorts or pants, but it will be colder...

    Which poncho?

I love my Altus poncho. After a camino in poor clothing when I got saturated in Galacia I really appreciate it. I rarely need rain trousers with it.

To poncho or not to poncho?

Very sad story there… I discovered upon arriving home from one of my practice hikes before leaving for the Camino it had come loose from where I had it strapped on to the bottom of my pack. I retraced my steps but never found the Packa. It was the day before I was leaving so I ended up...
