    VDLP - Too late in the year ?

    I have walked the Via de la Plata in October and also in January/February. For the second one I did encounter some snow on several days. Mostly the weather was pleasantly cool. While summer on the VdlP is often dangerously hot I don't find winter too challenging.

    Dreaming - we must have walked the same dates!!!!! I, too, experienced 2 weeks of very, very hot weather and 2 solid weeks of rain. I started in SJPDP on 9/21/23 and arrived SDC on 10/30/23

    My husband found that the weather changed quite a lot from the first to the last part of October in 2021 He went from shirts and t-shirt to needing to buy a jacket and wearing all his clothes later in the month.

    Yes! But then it's called hitch-hiking :D I just wanted to add that the last bus from Pamplona to SJPP leaves on October 11, weather permitting. Borda and Orisson close their doors on October 17. Seize the day, pilgrims! The end is near!

    I remember that rain, too well. Also, days are shorter. Sun generally doesn’t come up until close to 9am. We used headlamps on most Oct mornings.

    Here is the AEMET report for historical (climate) conditions at Pamplona airport in October. I note that the average minimum for October is 8.9 deg C, so clearly half of the nights will have a lower minimum than that. The average maximum is 19.3 deg C, although that drops to 13 deg C in November.
