    Well, I made it. It rained all last night and into this morning but the sun came out so I thought I’d give it a try. Challenging, but doable if you take your time and concentrate. I disagree that it was a total slog; some sections were quite pleasant. But no walk in the park, for sure.

    Santovenia variant to Castanares

    Well, from Santovenia you have the option of going north west to Ages and continuing through Atapuerca and Orbaneja to the Castanares varient or proceeding sort of south west to Castanares via the Santovenia varient. I was just wondering which is the more pleasant option.

    Luggage Transport - Why?

    Try as I might, I can't get my pack below 15 lbs including 2L water and, at 73 with arthritic knees, it's difficult. My plan is to tranfer about 5 lbs/day in a small pack and carry the remaining 10 lbs in my very comfortable backpack. I want to enjoy the journey, not struggle. Buen Camino!

    Merino Wool Shirt Sheep Smell

    I purchased several merino items due to the claim that they combat body odor but after yesterday's hike in a woolx bra and tee shirt I have to agree with auburn five. I did stink a bit, a problem I have not had with smartwool and branwyn.

    Thanks for all the tips on finding the river route to Castanares. I'll be staying there for the night so it's important that I find the turn. I'll start looking about 1km out of Orbaneja Riopico. Wish me luck!

    I have been planning my upcoming Camino using the Wise Pilgrim Frances app. Unfortunately, it has stalled at Burgos and will not give me any information beyond that city. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but the problem persists. Suggestions are very welcome.
