LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way- Week 6

Oh, and just a reminder if you want Compostela....after the 100km point, two stamps per day. Easy on that section.

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way- Week 6

From what I've read, there's nothing in front of you that's as difficult as what's already behind you. You *so* got this!

    Travel from Santiago to Madrid

I believe the Cercanis train station at T4, MAD is currently under construction. Or so I read on these boards...

    Post Camino equipment donations.

When I finished the Primitivo in Sept 23, I spent 12 euro in Santiago to post a bunch of unused materials back to the municipal albergue in Oviedo, with a brief note in Spanish that said, For the next pilgrim. Correos provided the box. It's not at all economical for there to be a pilgrims...

https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/camino-primitivo-in-early-october-seeking-advice.88626/post-1288636 Search on Primitivo and October, and you will find several threads like this one. You may want to PM the writers.

    Next Camino, which one?

Primitivo has bag transport. And I think Ingles has Correos, at a minimum. 😉

Scheduling Cathedral tours - Mass vs nighttime vs rooftop vs Portico

You may be right...but I distinctly remember buying a regular museum ticket, and *not* being able to access the Portico. I would ask at the museum front desk. ;)

Sleeping with your partner in the albergue

Of the six private albergues I stayed in on the Primitivo (Sep 23), all were co-ed. Couples got a top and a bottom bunk if one was available. I always got bottom bunk, either because I arrived early ( short day) or the hospitalero/a took one look at my sorry, dragging, limping backside and...

Is there a laundry near Sarria?

And if you have no luck at all, the cabins style hotel (forget the name) on the way into Palais du Rey (literally on the Camino) had a washer/dryer for guests.

Scheduling Cathedral tours - Mass vs nighttime vs rooftop vs Portico

As for the hug, you can do that now without a Cathedral tour. As for access to the Portico, it was definitely only as part of a specific tour. The Portico is not accessible with a regular museum ticket or as part of the rooftop tour, nor is it accessible during Mass. I defer to those who...

    High Visibility

Lack of awareness, plus hi-vis equipment is neither standard nor free outside of Ireland. I remember reading about Spain's law...halfway through the Primitivo. In late September 2023. Fortunately, I *did* know about the late sunrises, and had headlamps and blinking red lights for those...

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way- Week 5

You've got this. BTW, my old sensei says that that saying is often backwards. The flesh will surprise you ( as it already has!), if you strengthen your spirit...

    Baggage transfer on the Primitivo

I'm doing snapshots from my WhatsApp...I started with an envelope at my first destination (Grado). They handed me off to Javier Mochilla Express when i got to Boente. They're on Facebook as well, but i don't use that.

Scheduling Cathedral tours - Mass vs nighttime vs rooftop vs Portico

Ironically, the only way I saw the Portico was during a nighttime tour. My museum tour and the rooftop tour were separate tickets. This was September 2023. The night tour of the Cathedral was in English, but the rooftop tour was in Spanish. BTW...that's a pretty steep roof, with a lot of...

    Gronze Symbol Legend

Out of curiosity, were you using the App? Or a specific phone browser?

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way-week 4

Hector, you came looking for something. You're not an imposter. You're a pilgrim. As for apprehension, we all face it. You may not think of yourself as religious, but I find this reading helpful... "Por lo tanto, no se angustien por el mañana, el cual tendrá sus propios afanes. Cada día...

    All set, let's go

I love me private rooms, sometimes...especially because *I* snore. More like a loud purr than a choking gasp...but still annoying to my family. And any objectionable scents are my fault... 😉 Buen Camino!

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way-week 4

You will feel lighter. It's normal to feel depleted on and off, particularly on this Camino. Your body, mind ( and spirit) are all doing the extremely hard work of dis-covery and re-covery. And you've pretty much identified what you need to do differently, nutritionally. One thing that...

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way-week 4

As far as I can tell, no. But it's hard to determine. 1% is over the counter. 2% is for large joints. 3% is used to remove skin growths. And at that, the warning labels don't really fit on the box.

    Baggage transfer on the Primitivo

TaxiCamino served me all the way through the Primitivo. Available through WhatsApp and had envelopes in most places. They handed me off to JacoTrans at Boente
