Wow! Jeff, you sure do have a bunch of yahoos over there on 'the mainland' .Thank you for this - it looks like Spain is handling this much better than some other countries.
As you say it's the risk in getting to Spain that is of concern. If you should encounter any of my fellow countrymen from the UK I would give tham more than 1.5m social distance.
New cases over here are surging

and predictions are for 100,000 new cases each day.
Today (19th July) a lot of restrictions have been lifted in the UK and there have been warnings about the number of UK citizens eager to holiday in Europe. Sadly self-restraint seems to be lacking. This was a popular south coast beach in England TWO days before restrictions were lifted.

My advice: steer clear of anybody with a British accent - I know I do!
Be careful out there!
Edit 53.9% of British people have had both vaccinations including the Minister of Health who tested positive for Covid on Friday.
During my 15 days of the Camino I encountered literally TWO pilgrims from the UK. Maybe some of them pretend to be American? There are quite a few US pilgrims. My advice: steer clear of anybody with a British accent - I know I do!

I could quarantine there! Pool? It was 110F / 43.3C in my backyard yesterday (unbelievable suntrap - wax tealights melted!) so must have a pool!During my 15 days of the Camino I encountered literally TWO pilgrims from the UK. One advice: try to pick really nice albergues and possibly with a nice wiev. (This one in Astorga is perfect ) because if there is a case of covid detected, you will spend the following 2 weeks in it (see the case of Palas del Rei quarantine)
Other than that, the 2021 July Camino is a fantastic experience and I wish all of you were here for celebrating the Xacobeo Fiestas!
Below: a perfect albergue for your upcoming quarantine

On a more serious note your government has just issued a warning for US citizens not to travel to the UKDuring my 15 days of the Camino I encountered literally TWO pilgrims from the UK. Maybe some of them pretend to be American? There are quite a few US pilgrims.
