Hi
I will be walking the Camino del Norte - with 2 friends from late August 2025. We will be flying from Melbourne to Paris and then to Biarritz airport.
We are keen to get some help re how to get from Biarritz airport to Irun, using public transport, either train or buses.
Many thanks for your support
Jose

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Search Rome2Rio or Omio. You can buy bus tickets on the Omio site but it too early to view the schedule. There are trains as well that take you to Hendaye. If you do chose the bus I suggest buying a ticket in advance because the bus drivers do no sell tickets. The last time I took the bus to SS, it was completely full of passengers coming from previous stops and the bus driver refused to allow passengers board without tickets. The Biarritz train station is a short walk, cab ride or bus ride from the airport.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
If you do take the train to Hendaye, just turn right as you come out of the station, head up a slight slope, and you'll see a bridge to your right. Cross that and you're in Irun.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

2023 we got a bus to Hendaye from the airport - a bit of a milk run - but fine. Train may be quicker depending on time table. Like others, walked across the bridge into Irun, where we picked up our Camino credential and sim cards, then walked to Hendaye for night one. Enjoy! Buen Camino.

Hi Naplesdon,
Many thanks

I find that statement a little worrying. You are planning to walk some 750km and you've no slack in your timetable. Or is that two days from Biarritz the slack that you have?
Hi Tincatinker, We are still working, so time is limited, and yes we have a bit of slack, but is taken in doing other changes in our Camino. We have done a number of Camino, Frances 2014 and 15, Portuguese in 2018 and Le Puy in 2023. Many thanks for your contribution...

Hi Patterson,
Many thanks for this info, do you remember the number of the bus or the bus company?

Fail to prepare? reduce your risk by buying this book full of practical info.

Hi Jose
Unfortunately I don't have it however if you put Biarritz to Hendaye (rather than irun) in Rome2Rio website, it will give you train and bus information. We were still jet-lagged at the time but thankfully a local person helped us! Buen Camino. Gwyn
