Hello all !

I am currently starting my planning for my (Del Sud) walk from Rome to Santa Maria de Leuca and I cannot seem to find any information about a mobile mapping app for this route. (If one even exists!).

I did purchase the english version of the Terre di Mezzo guidebook after paying dearly to have it mailed to the U.S., but I'd rather not carry it to cut down on pack weight.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to Spring !,

Bob

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hi Bob,
I am not sure about a dedicated app, but I downloaded these and used them in wikiloc, or whatever other app you like.

Have a look at the Sloways site. They have numerous Italian routes / part routes focusing on the VF and the VFnS. They have an app but not sure if it covers the whole of the route. There is one for the first section though

You can use the GPX files to plan your own versions for Wikiloc / Mappy. This is mine for the Via Appia using RWGPS. I may be guilty of overplanning the POI's though

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

We are walking it next month.

The official Italian site had lots of info including an App... download for free from their site of Google Play Store. Lots of info on accommodation on website and in App, plus I use booking.com as well.

Also a number of useful blogs around.

I use Organic Maps for navigation on all my Caminos, can get the gpx files for each day off the website. Also great for finding accomodation, cafes, bars etc. Free!

Hi Mick,
Thanks for the reply and the information. Will you be posting daily, weekly updates on your trip? If so, I look forward to reading them.
Once again, Thank you

Sorry, just read this, didn't do any posts.
We had a great time, made it to the lighthouse.
How did your walk go?

Greetings Mick
I am part of a group of 3 people who are planning to walk 'somewhere' in the spring of 2025. In various combinations, we have each been over 3 or 4 times to walk, mostly in Spain, some in France, Portugal and Italy. We have been seriously considering the Via Francigena del Sud. Another member of our group posted a question a month or so ago that was responded to by Timr, which was very helpful (thank you Tim). Since you were there just last year, can you give us an idea of pricing of accommodations along the way (an average cost and/or the highest and lowest lodging you found perhaps?) and any major gaps in lodging and/or food availability that you are aware of? Anything you wish you had known before you started?
Also, could you relate to us if you saw very many other pilgrims on your travels on the VFDS? We are a bit concerned about it being a holy year in 2025, and wondering how that might affect lodging etc. We plan to walk from Rome to Brindisi, and think it might be good to be at least a couple of weeks out of Rome by Good Friday.
Thank you in advance for any information you are able to provide!
Barbara
