No, the albergue belongs to the Real Colegiata de Santa Maria de Roncesvalles, and the prior is the final decision maker. The volunteers are all member of the 'Nederlands Genootschap van Sint Jacob' (Dutch Confraternity of Saint James), the...

Martyduc reacted to henrythedog's post in the thread Re: Current Lunch Prices with Like Like.
Perhaps to paraphrase: if you want a good lunch at a good price in Spain; do as the local Spanish do.

But Roncesvalles is not in Galicia and not subject to Galician pilgrim albergue rules, or is it? Roncesvalles is special in many aspects. It is neither a parochial albergue nor a municipal albergue. Their "administration" or "Camino pilgrim...

Martyduc reacted to C clearly's post in the thread Accommodation worries with Like Like.
A blanket statement that defies common sense - taking the fact that a person likes to reserve accommodation in advance on a Camino during busy times, and then extrapolating them to be extremists who "have to be in control of every aspect of their...

As regards apps, you might want to add the Mapy.cz app, especially if you are walking alone. Using the outdoor map, you will see the entire camino. Additionally, you can download the map of Spain, so you don't need wifi for real time navigation.

Martyduc reacted to Bradypus's post in the thread Getting from Orisson to Roncesvalles with Like Like.
I do find it very hard to understand the business of going all the way to Pamplona then taking a bus through Roncesvalles and Valcarlos just to turn around and walk back the same direction! There are plenty of equally (or more) interesting views...
