My first journey to the camino Frances was by way of Paris, then south to Spain. I had visited Paris previously, but this was my first time to worship at Notre Dame. I was impressed by the service, which included Bible readings and a sermon in English and a couple of non-French European languages. I felt that this was a place where I, as a Christian, was welcome to worship and aided in doing so. I was dismayed at the news of the fire. Now that I have seen on television the last stages of building repairs and news of the re-opening, I hope to make the same journey again, to be welcomed by French Christians before going on to the camino in Spain.

I am going to France next week and will be in Paris during the re-opening of the Cathedral!
I have had no luck finding any way to attend the ceremonies on December 8th, but am now (im)patiently waiting until the system of ticketing opens up,around Dec 1st, to gain entry soon after the 8th. While waiting in Paris, I plan to make a mini pilgrimage to Chartres, along the beginning of the Via Turonensis. All of this inspired by the magnificent efforts of the French to restore Notre-Dame-de-Paris to her glory.
