New to the Camino! Where Do Travelers Hang Out in Santiago de Compostela

Hi everyone!

First-time pilgrim here, setting off on the Camino Finisterre starting October 26th. I’ll be spending the full day of October 25th in Santiago de Compostela and would love to know if there are any favourite spots where fellow travellers gather.

I’m really eager to hear the stories of those just finishing their Camino and would also love to connect with anyone starting or continuing on to Finisterre around the same time. Simply curious and excited to meet others on this journey!

Any recommendations or tips would be so appreciated.

You will find pilgrims at all the bars, restaurants, cafes, and ice cream shops that are tucked away in old town Santiago. I especially like to sit out on the Praza de Cervantes and watch the stream of pilgrims walking by.

And yes, any of the 'debriefing' meetings in the Cathedral Pilgrim Offices.

Watch Pilgrims arrive at Prazo do Obradoiro, the main square by the Cathedral. I'm sure some of them will enjoy sharing. You'll witness all sorts of emotions.

Spend hours in peaceful Alameda Park, ride the Ferris wheel, visit the biggest eucalyptus tree you ever saw, and there are fantastic views of the Cathedral. And walk The Route of Routes.

I like Alameda Park.
My wife who arrived a day earlier into SdC in order to meet and greet me on Plaza Oibradorio when I walked in completing my Camino Frances told me that she spent 6 hours on the Plaza just totally enthralled by all the Pilgrims coming in
