Hi, I am starting my Camino on Wednesday. My plan was to sleep in Jaca on Tuesday night and take a bus to Somport early Wednesday morning, and walk to Confranc. I know the Albergue is now closed. Is it still possible to walk from Somport? I would just go to Villauna and sleep in the hostel there. Is this possible or on? Am I better off just starting my Camino in Jaca? It is my second time on this Camino. I would like to walk from Somport again but if it is a big problem, I have no problem starting in Jaca. Any updated information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
I'm in Jaca today. Tomorrow we'll take the mornig bus to Somport and start our walk to Villanua, then to Jaca. It's perfectly safe and doable, just be aware that from Villanua to Jaca could find heavy machinery working to make the new higway. Take care.
Buen Camino.

Shouldn’t be a problem and it’s a lovely time to walk.

Holoholo automatically captures your footpaths, places, photos, and journals.
I just walked from Oloron to Arres, passed on the Somport, Villanua, Jaca. Not the minest Problem. And yes, there's trucks and machines around Villanua, it's a railway not a highway in work. All albergues except Canfranc are open.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
OK I verified the weather report of the region around Jaca. It will not be nice to walk this week. The ground will be very slippy and muddy. You should better start in Jaca and not in Somport, I think.
I also want to say that I walked from Oloron to Somport only on the road, except the last 2 Km.
The foot path on the French side is still closed and impossible to walk. But the road without cars is spectacular also.
