Camino (2019) and (2021)
Very excited about walking the Camino de Santiago starting in Sarria. I am 70 and my wife is 63. The Good Lord has called me to try do this walk, so I am going to try. We both have bad knee's but can still dance the night away. We arrive Madrid September 4, 2024 at 8:45 AM local. We plan on taking the train Sarria that afternoon. We will spend two night in Sarria to rest before starting our journey. We are in no rush and plan to take about 7 - 8 days to walk.

We would like to take a day tour from Santiago to Finisterre to see the coast and the End of World marker 00.00. Does anyone have a recommendation on a tour group that we can contact. We do not want to just take the bus by ourselves.

Thank you and God Bless

Sorry, I can't give you the name of the tour company that I used - there are always tour company representatives around the plaza in front of the Cathedral in Santiago. I think that they all offer the same basic one day tour.

Last September the bus ride to Fisterre was very much better than I expected. First the cost was reasonable, the bus was very clean, and the scenery superb. You’ll be driving the coastline with many twists and turns. The sunset on the beach was breathtaking.

BTW you will walk through some eucalyptus groves on the Sarria route - it’s invigorating. This site has a lot of tools that will help you. Best of luck!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Welcome, Sarge and Lucha.
A wonderful time awaits you. May I please tell you something? It was a long time ago, but we walked up to the bus station in Santiago, got tickets, enjoyed the journey and got out in Finisterre. We walked up to the 0 marker, on the curve drinking from quite the most delicious cold fountain of our entire camino, and then walked back, and took the bus back to Santiago. It really was not at all difficult. The bus trip is so straightforward, You might like to research that a little bit more...but if you think you need a tour, go ahead, I cannot help you more!

Sounds like you have a wonderful adventure ahead :) I am also from Texas, if you get a chance before your camino and can get to San Antonio, they have a wonderful mini-camino with credential where the distance travelled also applies to your camino in Spain. It might be a good place to practice and see how your shoes, etc. work for you. https://caminosanantonio.org/
We walked it earlier this year and it had the feel of the caminoes we have done in Europe - amazing folks at the pilgrim center, felt welcome at each mission, met other people while walking it and had some great conversations. You can get your credential at the pilgrim center.

Like others have said, there are tons of resources near the cathedral in Santiago that can offer tours, etc. to Finisterre. I haven't used any of the tour places, but here is one with a 9 hour tour for about $53.00 a person... https://www.getyourguide.com/santiago-de-compostela-l153/a-coruna-guided-coastal-tour-t403742/

Wish you all the best and God bless.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
