We are in Chateauvillain. What an adventure! The VF is much different from the camino’s we did. Less pilgrims, since my last post we’ve met 1 pilgrim.

The everyday planning takes more time. Because we want to walk about 20 km a day we have to divert sometimes from the route to get an accommodation. That was never a problem. The accommodations we booked vary a lot: from supersimple to luxury.

And we have to plan our food. There isn’t every day a restaurant or a supermarket on our way. But when we are in a restaurant we appreciate it even more.

We have had terrible weather in the beginning after Calais. The path was flooded and very muddy at some parts. I only fell in the mud once! But after that we had manu sunny days with a few raindrops. Today should be sunny.

The plan is to go to Lausanne and than go home and to return september to continue the VF.

The VF is Eastern France is definitely more of a stretch and finding an open shop, bar, restaurant can be a challenge! But enjoy!

So true! Since Calais we play bingo in every village: eglise: check, mairie: check, monument: check, busshelter: check and for a busshelter with a bench there are extra points!! We had many lunches in the heavy rain in a busshelter eating a baguette of sometimes 2 days old. But we are having the best time of our life!

Yesterday in Chateauvillain all the restaurants were closed because it was a monday, so we went to the supermarket to get some food. This morning we made a coffee in our room and than went to the bakery to get the delicious filled baguette, only to discover than the baker went on a holiday! So we had to get the plain baguette off the vending machine! Breakfast: baguette with nothing. Luckily I had a can of tuna so lunch was saved. It makes you appreciate the little things.
