Parking at SJPP

Time of past OR future Camino
Future
I would like to do the camino frances. My plan is to travel to SJPP in my motorhome, park it locally and do the camino on foot. This would mean leaving the motorhome unattended for potentially 5 weeks. I take all the security measures I can with the actual vehical. I am looking for any reccomendations for anywhere I can park it safely ( secure site, trusted family, anything really considered). Don't know when trip will be undertaken as I've fractured a spinal bone. So thought I'd occupy my time with the planning. Many thanks Peter

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Send a private conversation to MonaSP. She is a manager at the Pilgrim Office at SJPdP. If anyone knows about long term parking for an RV, she likely will.

IIRC there is long term parking available at SJPdP. You are not the first person to have this need.

Hope this helps.

Tom

Another option to those above may be to store it at a Campsite somewhere near Bayonne or Cambo les Bains (both a short hop by train to SJPdP). If you end up walking during the camping season, many caravans and motorhomes will have vacated their seasonal storage, so there ought to be a deal to be done.

Private Parking At Garage Donibane

During our last few visits to St Jean Pied de Port we parked at Garage Donibane. We paid 3 euros a day but for a 7 day minimum period. It gave us peace of mind that we were not parking illegally and we had a certain level of security. You do need to call ahead to reserve.

How did your planning work out? I was very surprised (and delighted, sorry about your spine) to find your post almost covers my medical (knackered neck and lower back plus removal of spinal cord tumour) and vehicular needs. I use a recumbent eTrike plus dog trailer for my various medications (catheters etc probably weigh 15kg) so my 7.0m Camping Car has a 2,5m YPo trailer on the back. I’m slow so I’m hoping for a 5 week return run.
