We have 10 days to complete our camino and we are thinking of starting in Viana do Castelo. Has anyone done this route in 10 days? If so, how many km per day did you walk?

We have pre-ordered and received our passports. Do we fill out our passports ourselves or does someone in Viana do Castelo need to fill in the start date and/or sign them when we begin?

Thanks!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
You can do it in10 days, walking between 15 and 20 kms a day

Day 1 Viana to Vila Praia de Âncora
2. Caminha or A Guarda
3. santa Maria de Oia
4.Baiona
5 Vigo
6 Redondela ( better go on 3 kms to Cessantes to stay in O Refúxio de la Jérezana
7Pontevedra
8 Caldas de Reis
9 Padrón
10 Santiago

you have to fill in your personal information and the day you start in your Credential
If you show up at the Pilgrims Office you can be requested to fill it in .

Jimmer,

Welcome to the forum!

On your Credential fill out your personal info and wherever you do begin get the first stamp.

I have never walked from Viana do Castelo but in 2014 after walking the CF I met my husbqnd for a holiday in Portugal. In Viana do Castelo we ate at 2 wonderful places: Casa Primera where fisherman eat delicious huge cheap portions generally of fish; and more upmarket but with a simple daily menu was a small pension where we stayed O Laranjeira. The dining room was handsome with white linen, the Portuguese food creative and delicious.

Happy planning and Bom caminho!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Viana do Costelo is an excellent place to begin a coastal Camino because you pass by attractive coast line all the way to Caminha and avoid some of the more developed beach resorts, such as a Póvoa da Varzim. (you can view our blog post at https://twoclinestraveling.wordpress.com/2019/06/15/camino-2019 ). Albertinho's itinerary is a good one. It also has good restaurants, as mspath notes.

Viana do Costelo was one of our favorite towns along this route!

Thanks to everyone for your responses! We are looking forward to starting our camino in a few weeks.
