I have a tech project manager friend (born in Ponferrada) who lives and works in Barcelona and she often complains about over tourism and bnb (back in 2008) - wealthier locals and outsiders buy up cheaper housing and turn into short-term rentals...

Thats for sure. This year, as we were walking along a path with vineyards either side, I saw a cloud of mist, and realised that we were about to be sprayed along with the grapes. Backed up a bit, waited for it to settle, the wind carried it off a...

Yep, I leave $2-3/per day on a hotel bed when I leave, sitting on the bed, not under the pillow. I give a coach driver $1 for digging my suitcase out from underneath, as two examples.

Tom, tourism never was a major part of Barca’s economy. It was an adjunct. The city is a major manufacturing centre, a financial centre and a port. The cruise ships bring very little benefit: passengers eat on board and save most of their...

If your bills are less than €10 then €1 is a good tip. As I said above, no obligation to tip and people who are too tight to tip won't anyway, like I said, if you are happy with the service be generous.

If your bill came to say €50 rounding it up to €51 would be very insulting.
