    Definitely don't expect the French to speak Spanish (or English) and from my experience the Portuguese would rather speak English than listen to you speak to them in Spanish, no matter how good it is. The only "bleeding" I would guess is Basque...

    Surrounding countries would be France and Portugal. Portuguese speakers can understand Spanish quite well, French speakers not so well.
