There’s no harm in asking. If you explain your needs, it’s up to the Hospi to say yes or no.

If you can find some nylon knee highs in a store, wear those under your socks. Turn them and your socks inside out so the seams don't rub. This is my tip to stay blister free in the future.

I finished Sarria to Santiago a few weeks ago, they said these routes are very busy but perhaps I was walking too slowly or what, there were long stretches I was walking alone and many of the pilgrims disappeared especially after 2pm or 3pm.
