I would simply suggest that every morning before you leave your accommodations that you record the local taxi phone number. I you are exhausted during the day you could contact them to pick you up.

Nope. Waterproofs; one change of clothes + extra pair of socks and pants. Toothbrush, corkscrew, sleeping bag. Don't really need much else. For a three day hike I probably wouldn't bother with the change of clothes except for the socks
