Distance from Lugo to Melide, then Melide to Camino Ingles

I am currently planning to walk the Camino Ingles in May after a day in Lugo. Realizing that the Camino Primitivo passes through Lugo, I am wondering how long the distance is from Lugo to Melide. Is it possible to take a bus from Melide to Ferrol to start the Ingles? Is there a bus from Melide to A Coruna, and if I walked from Lugo to Melide and then from A Coruna to Santiago, would that total distance qualify me for a compostela by the new/old rules? What is the Primitivo like from Lugo to Melide? Should I just stick to original plan of taking a bus from Lugo to Ferrol to start the Camino Ingles from there? Options, options, options!!! Thanks for wisdom and advice.
