How Noisy is your Jacket?

Hello again :D

This may seem like a daft question but is your jacket noisy? I'm looking to buy a very lightweight windshell (that may or may not be showerproof). I'm looking for fabric that's perhaps more silky than plasticy?

I don't have access to try a lot of the bigger known brands like Marmot, Montane, Mountain Hardware or Rab etc. so I'll be buying on line... I'm interested to know how yours feels and sounds?

As always, suggestions and comment gratefully recieved.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi @LesBrass,
I bought a Marmot 'pre-clip' jacket from Cotswold Outdoors a few years ago and sent it back because it was too noisy - so I know exactly what you mean! I changed it for a Berghaus pac-lite, which has served me well. However, I had a serious case of gear-envy when my husband got a Rab Spark jacket - it's very light, has a softer feel and it's not noisy at all.

I also have this soft-shell jacket, which I absolutely love http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/haglofs-womens-natrix-jacket-a2512468?id_colour=139 It's lightweight, showerproof, very soft and stretchy and I wear it a lot. Zero decibels too :)

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Paramo jackets are always quiet. But they're heavy and I'll take a guess that
once they break down and become saturated they'll take a long time to dry
out. I've only ever used mine on day walks and never in a sustained downpour.
However, the local Mountain Rescue Teams use them extensively.
