Oh, good heavens and deep breaths.

I got an international plug thing from REI for charging my phone, but the electric plug that goes into my charger doesn't go into the plug.

Should I just get this in Spain and stop worrying?? It's like the roundish holes don't accommodate my squarish plug.

Jeez I'm stupid with electronics.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Can you post a link to the product you have? All you need is a little one like this. Is it possible you got the opposite direction? You want squarish holes for your plug, with round ones coming out! There are actually 2 very similar adaptors, one of which has slightly larger pins than the other. I have used both successfully in Spain. At first I was nervous as I had to push harder to get one into the outlet, but once I got used to that, it was fine.

I would recommend getting it here, as they may be harder to find on that side of the Atlantic, where people need to buy the opposite adaptor. However, airports would likely have it.

Most electronics no longer need to convert the power. Does your phone have a USB end on the charger? All you need is an adapter that can be bought in any phone store or Chinese euro store. I bought one the for 5 euros, but met a woman who only paid 3 euros. If your plug isn't USB but regular US two pronged plug, you can find a cheap adaptor for that as well. I would try a hardware store (fereteria). I've bought several in the past and they were super cheap - probably less than 1euro each. The airport prices will be a great deal higher. You also don't want to carry the extra weight of the international chargers you find at U.S. travel stores or REI, if you bought what I think you bought. I have the web address of a great plug, but my understanding is you're short on time.

Thanks to Bajaracer, here's the address...

All right. Problem solved. I have exactly what I need (I think). I could not get it to "accept" my cell phone tines until I got a little bit pushier with it.

Now I can focus on all the important last midnight details---
Packing
Printing ticket
Assembling my husband's going-away present (the marble bull with an "as is" broken horn)

Thanks everyone!

You are VERY lucky that you had to get a little pushy with the charger to get your phone plug into it. I have left a LOT of chargers in albergue walls when I pulled out the plug in the morning. In fact, I have done it so often that I now use duct tape to tape the plug to the adaptor. :p

What a nice idea. My husband's gift is likely to be a long list of the things I did in advance, and a list of reminders for him.....
