I will be traveling through Umbria next week and am searching for Saint James. I know he appears in the Oratorio dei Pelligrini in Assisi and since I'm flying into Florence I will first go north to Pistoia for the Cattedrale di San Zenoand the silver altar there. Where else might I be able to find him? Anywhere from Lago Trasimeno to Terni, Norcia to Orvieto would be perfect! Thank you and buon percorso,

Miki,

Here are three sources that might help you find St James in Orvieto and elsewhere in Umbria.

and

Close to 50 years ago (!!) I first visited Orvieto on a bicycle and still remember the horizontal 'stripes' of black and white marble courses on the sides of the cathedral.

Buon viaggio,

Margaret

Thank you very much Margaret -again! I, alas, possess a memory much more crass-the gold exterior of the chuch is what first comes to my mind.
Giorgio, what wonderful sites! The compostela.pellegrinando site is wonderful and I will use it in the future for my planned Via Francigena maybe next year.
For all those who lovely remember those chickens in the church at Santo Domingo de Calzada know that this curious legend also appears as an Italian miracle in a fresco of the Chiesa de San Giacomo at San Giacomo di Spoleto. There is also another representation in Italy but I am experiencing a senior moment and cannot recall just where.
