Excellent gîte in La Clauze

My second day on the Podiensis brought me to Les Rochers de La Clauze, right on the Way and run by the delightful Jean Luc and Marie. They’re not in Wise Pilgrim, the Cicerone book, and Buen Camino. I was referred by a nearby Chambre owner who was full. Les Rochers is a donativo, modern, clean, has a laundry machine, the food is excellent, and I am the only guest tonight. I paid about what I am paying other gîtes. They were full last night and expect five tomorrow. La Clauze is about 7 km past Saugues.

Jean Luc is reached at +33 06 65 50 30 51. Try WhatsApp. They’re right on the Way in the center of the village, just past the water trough.

Not that I know of Cynthia ... have you tried phoning or sending a text message?

I put the phone # into Whats App and it does a search and doesn't find anything whether I put it in as a Chat or a Call. I just tried sending it by text message on my Iphone so we'll see if I get a response to that. Thanks, Cynthia

That's the number I used to reach Jean Luc. I recall Jean Luc saying he closes in winter because of little traffic, so he may not have reopened yet for the season.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately this was not available for Saturday, Sept 14. I was able to find lodging at a small Airbnb (total 2 beds!). I am currently looking for lodging for my next stop in La Clauze. I appreciate everyone's trying to help out. I have walked 5 Caminos in Spain and Portugal. Never had to make reservations and always had a bed. I hear that Via Podiensis is beautiful, so here I am. At least my first 3 days are taken care of. Bon chemin.

I walked the Podiensis a year ago at this time and generally booked ahead a week. Also, the Gronze website is very helpful for reasonably up to date information on accommodations along the route, often including user reviews from previous pilgrims. Gronze lists three accommodations in La Clauze, not counting the refuge municipal, which is essentially camping.

if you are happy to stay at a chambre d’hôte i.e. bed-and-breakfast there is also an excellent one at La Clauze ... it is called «la Coustette de La Clauze» email <contact@coustette-de-la-clauze.fr> phone 09 82.57.45.88. It is possible to reserve via their website that you can find with a simple internet / web search ...

As far as I am aware there is no email address for «le Refuge des pèlerins de Margeride» ...
