Hiking poles in Santiago

hello to all,

last year when I finished Camino Primitivo I left my hiking poles bought in Oviedo in Santiago.
In September I plan to do Camino Ingles.
I will arrive in Santiago on Saturday evening around midnight and plan to take the bus to Ferrol on Sunday morning around 09.30.
The decathlon in Ferrol is closed on Sunday and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to where I can get some hiking poles early Sunday morning . I would love to be able to re-use the hiking poles of someone who finished the camino and left them in Santiago, but I don't know where to look.

Casa Ivar is open Sunday mornings.

Ivar himself often mentions that he has free hiking poles left at the office by previous peregrinos.

When we got our Compostela on June 11th, there were a large number of walking poles sitting abandoned in the room where you register on the computer. If you walk into the entry hall at the Pilgrims Office and go through the door on your right, there's a counter with computers/monitors and the poles were in the right corner. There must have been more than 30 poles sitting there.

You can also try at the Pilgrim Office. They wil be open early, even on Sunday.

Pilgrims will frequently abandon hiking poles there, that they do not want. Periodically, staff recycle them. The selection is sketchy, but they are usually free - I suggest making a small donation.

Pilgrim House is a great resource, but unfortunately they are closed on Sundays.

Yes, Casa Ivar is open from 7:30 am on Sundays.

When I finished my Camino last year I stayed at the Seminario Menor Albergue and in there luggage room there was all sorts of stuff pilgrims had left including me, I left my poles so you could always ask them and offer a donation for them, I’m sure they’d oblige if they have any. Keith

We’re not even talking just ‘Sunday’ here as the OP wants to be on the ‘bus at 0930. This is dark o’clock on Sunday.

Either through a stroke of luck the night-shift at the OPs accommodation have a spare pair or they’re setting off without poles IMHO.

I will contact the establishments you have suggested to see if it is possible to arrange for an early Sunday morning pick-up of the poles.
Alternatively I will buy another pair of poles and bring them by plane but considering that many pilgrims leave theirs in Santiago I would prefer to reuse them (it's not a problem of money but I like the idea of reusing something several times) .

The only place in town where they might obtain poles is the Pilgrim Office. But, according to their website, they do not open until 0900. I just checked.

So, this is not a viable option either.

I stayed twice at hotel Las Campanas de San Juan in SdC, close to the cathedral, and both times there were loads of left behind poles.
