What to skip either side of Vigo?

I have been reading on the forum that many have suggested skipping the complicated walk in and out of Vigo. As I am time limited I am going to take this advice and get a taxi from one side to the other. Whereas I am happy to avoid industrial areas and city limits, I don't want to miss anything of beauty or importance. If you were me, at what point would you stop walking into Vigo from Baiona, and at what point would you pick up the walk to continue out the other side? I will be leaving Baiona and hoping to make Redondella that same day. As always, thanks in advance for your much appreciated ideas and input

Hmm. Anyway you need 2 stamps at your credential from Vigo that you walked the last 100 kms to obtain a Compostela certificate if you aim for that. And Vigo is such a critical place as it is for the last 100 kms.

This is true, but I have walked Camino Portuguese central and Camino Frances, so already have received Compostela for them ....as wonderful as it is to cherish them, this time its just about enjoying the walk and fitting into my timeframe.

We walked the Coastal Route from Biona through A Ramallosa the day we headed to Vigo. The only part of the walk I didn’t care for was the industrial section on the southern side of Vigo into the historical center. Seemed long, monotonous, and not particularly interesting. However, the walk out of Vigo wasn’t at all bad. For a ways, you walk through the city commercial center as you climb out of the city with some great views of the Ría de Vigo on your way to Redondela. So, if I were to skip anything, it would be that section starting near Saiáns or Oia (Vigo). I’d taxi to the historical center of Vigo and walk out of town from there.

The way into and out of Vigo is not as complicated as many portray it to be.

It is true that the arrow situation inside the city is not ideal, but neither is it anything to be afraid of.

Into the city is lively along the coast if you choose that route from Nigran.

@yogaflowjo that is a very long day! The shelf road after Vigo is easy at 16.5 km but you have to climb out of Vigo first to get to it. You don't say which route you wish to do, but the Coastal from A Ramallosa to Vigo would definitely be shorter and avoid the major part of downtown Vigo. You can see this on my website, click here. From A Ramallosa to Vigo on the Coastal is 25 km, so if you add that to the 16.5, you are looking at a 41.5 km day! From Baiona, it would be even longer, depending on where you start. I really don't know any other way to do this section that would be easier. You could always bus right on through to Redondela, but if it were up to me, I prefer Vigo to Redondela! It is a bustling and interesting town.

You also can take the train from Vigo Urzaiz station to Redondela or follow the railway from Vigo to Redondela. An easy flat walk along the sea side
