This was posted to the CamineDeSantiago subforum over on Reddit 6 days ago, the post can be read here. I am not the original author.

The post was made by a brand new account and a quick initial search on google didn't yield any corroborating news items, so perhaps a grain of salt is advisable.

Given the serious nature of the crime though I'd feel uncomfortable to have not reshared it if something like it were to happen again.

Long shot indeed. The press don´t seem to have heard about this, so that may be why there is nothing on the internet about it. But if my phone had been stolen in Spain, I wouldn´t rate the chances of getting it back by posting on an English-speaking, US-based forum very highly. And given that the thief abandoned a formidable sounding knife in favour of a cheap crappy phone, they might have decided by now that this particular kind of crime does not pay very well. I hope the OP gets it back though.
