I walked the Camino Frances in 2015 and met many Irish who inspired me to walk from Ireland this year. I am going to walk from Dublin starting at St. James Gate at the Guinness factory. I can walk the Wicklow Way and then go on to Rosslare and take ferry to Cherbourg. Then there is a Way to Mont. St. Michel, but from there I cant find much other than it looks like you walk to Poitiers and then are on the Tours Way? Looking for suggestions and direction?

Too many and too often!
Do not feel obliged to walk only on recognised routes. You are free to make it up as you go along. There are certainly advantages to walking the established paths in terms of pilgrim accommodation and the likelihood of meeting other pilgrims. For family reasons I chose to walk from my home in Wales to St Jean Pied de Port via Portsmouth, St Malo, Rennes, Nantes, La Rochelle and the Voie Littoral to Biarritz. Only the final stages were "official" camino but I could not have cared less. A memorable experience.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Hi Kevin,

The Breton St James association can help you to reach the Via Turonensis / Tours Way.

First look at our website :

http://www.compostelle-bretagne.fr/index.php/guide-et-chemin

http://www.compostelle-bretagne.fr/index.php/qui-sommes-nous/english-welcome

Coming from Ireland you have 2 solutions about ferry : Cherbourg or Roscoff
  • Starting from Roscoff you have a way "Voie de MoguĂ©riec" with 2 starting points (Stage MoguĂ©riec to Morlaix) : MoguĂ©riec or St-Pol-de-LĂ©on very close to Roscoff :
http://www.compostelle-bretagne.fr/index.php/guide-et-chemin/voie-de-locquirec-ou-mogueriec

→ A new guide is available (only in French) but the same stages descriptions can be read on the website and this way Google translated.

→ The GPS files for all the stages on the above web page by clicking on this picture to open the stage map. (Link for the GPS file at the bottom of the map)
  • Starting from Cherbourg you'll walk :
→ on the Mont-St-Michel way :

http://www.lescheminsdumontsaintmichel.com/spip/spip.php?article54&lang=fr

→ and after, on the "Voie des Capitales" / "Capitals Way" :

http://www.compostelle-bretagne.fr/index.php/guide-et-chemin/voie-des-capitales

... The guide book link HERE

... The same explanations for the GPS files and the descriptions than for the other way.

Particularly to cross the Vendée département to reach the Tours way.

Hi,

How long do you have to walk? You might need to catch a train from Brittany to Paris and then walk south-west to the Spanish border. Perhaps this link might help you.

Thanks for the Link. I have some friends in LeMans I want to visit and there are a couple of routes from Mont St. Michel to Poitiers and Tours south of France where I will pick up the main route from Paris.
