Is there a direct, high speed train from Madrid to Somport? Rome2Rio says Renefe operates two trains a day, but I am unable to obtain further details.

The nearest railway station to Somport is 8 km down the Valley at Canfranc Estacion, which is reachable by train from Zaragoza, though for the past two years, works have been continuing on the line. The easist way to get to Somport from Madrid at this time, is to take the train to Jaca (changing at Zaragoza) and from there take the local bus (a 30 minute journey that runs about 4 times a day) up to Somport.
Buen Camino!

The Zaragoza train and bus station are together in the same facility. If the train from Zaragoza to Canfranc is not running, I would take a bus from Zaragoza to Jaca and then use the local mountain community bus to reach Somport. The Jaca train station is not near the bus station so transfer from train to bus is more complicated.
