First camino planned on July-August 2023
Hi all! I was planning on walking the Camino del Norte from the 10th of july to around the 17th of august. After that I wanted to meet up with my girlfriend on the 30th of August in Lisbon. This means, I’ll have around 12 or 13 (13!!!) days left after arriving in Santiago. I was thinking about walking the Portuguese camino backwards from Santiago; but, clearly, I can’t walk all the camino to Lisbon in only 13 days, so I’ll probably need to skip some stops and take some bus.
And here’s my concerns
Since I don’t have unlimited funds, I’ll have to find the least expensive options to sleep and eat, so, there’s a few things I really need to know…
1)How cheap is the portuguese camino compared to the camino del norte?
2)Will I be allowed to stay in the pilgrim’s albergues even if I’m walking the camino backwards AND skipping stops?

Moreover, if you have any suggestions, tips, or whatever, I’m glad to hear! Thanks again

I’ve heard that the Portuguese is very difficult to walk backwards but have nothing to back this up with. I see no reason why you wouldn’t be allowed to stay in Albergues, no one would know which way you are walking.
I found Portugal to be a little cheaper than the Norte.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

You can walk back from Santiago to Porto and even Lisbonnby following the blue waymarkers in the direction of Fátima
Ask a new credential at the Pilgrims office in Santiago and all albergues are open for you so then you do not walk the camino de Santiago but the caminho da Fátima
No problem At all
And In Fátima they do not issue Certificates as far as I know
So in 13 days you can reach Porto by walking and from there you can go by train or bus to Lisbon
About the costs compared one to the other camino I do not know
The Portuguese prices in common are slighty cheaper than in Spain

During weekdays you can go for a menu do dia that is a 3 course “ workers” menue for about 8-10 euros including a drink . Only during midday.
In a bakersshop -called a Paderia you can have breakfast- croissant with confiture and coffee or tea about 2 €

Some in the past; more in the future!

It’s one of the easiest caminos to walk backwards for waymarking as there are blue arrows for Fátima most of the way.
