Out the door by 4:45 with my headlamp on finding the trail.
By 7 I was greeted with another beautiful sunrise 🌅 and by 11 the temperature was already close to 💯 degrees.
While walking I passed Bagno Vignoni and had to stop for a few minutes and enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of the tranquil flowing pools of water.
Today's walk was very difficult given not only the high temperature, but the fact that there was only 1 open bar all day along the route, absolutely no shade and that from mile 9 through 17 it was all uphill.
**If you are considering walking this stage, be well prepared **
I am now in Radicofani and enjoyed a really good pasta dinner 🍽 with handmade pasta.

Too many and too often!
I loved the walk up to Radicofani. One of the big white sheepdogs kept me company for a km or two before wandering off to join a shepherd and some other dogs in a field. Turned out to be Radicofani's local palio weekend. Town full of people in medieval costume and pop-up restaurants run by the village community groups. A few of us were invited in for the celebration meals. A memorable night!

I loved Radicofani, Bob, but my guest house guy arranged a taxi to pick us up a bit before the "big hill" climb at the end of the day in late September 2022. I noticed all the struggling pilgrims on a very warm day as we were driven up that hill in late afternoon and I felt compassion for them as some had their thumbs out hoping for a lift up to the top.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I walked up the hill in October last year. Stayed at a farmstay for the night before attempting the climb. The wind was very strong when I reached the near summit. At that time of the year it was really cooler so a much better time of the year to be walking. I left my stone on the marker and think that I can still see it in the photo.

2024?
I remember that climb very clearly. Although not quite as hot🌡🥵 your ascent (mine; low 30's C, June), I made things somewhat harder for myself by also lugging 😵‍💫 a bag of groceries for my night's self-contained accommodation on the far outskirts!

Bob, I think I can safely speak (write) on behalf of @Camino Chrissy & welcome you into our Emoji 🙂 Usage Club! It's Very Exclusive with you being Member #3. We hope you appreciate the momentous honour now bestowed upon you... 🤣 🥳

Hard to believe but you're nearly there; savour these last kilometres (miles). Happy Trails! 🤗
