Sampedros Festival in Burgos??

Camino2014

Time of past OR future Camino
Piémont, Frances, Littoral, Norte, Ingles (completed) Baztan, St. Jaume, Portuguese (planned!)
Hello all,

I'm currently in the small village of Villambistia, just two days away from Burgos. We plan to take a rest day in Burgos on the 30th and 31st of June, BUT there is the Sampedros festival going on all week!!

Will this make it hard to find accommodation? Also, will things be closed like the Cathedral and other monuments?

Please, any help is appreciated. I have never heard of the festival until a day ago and I really need to know the facts so we can plan accordingly.

Thanks for your help from Villambistia on the Camino Frances!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
It doesn't get the number of visitors that San Fermin draws to Pamplona. Still it won't do any harm to book ahead if you plan to stay in private accommodation - which you will be doing if staying two nights.
Theoretically the municipal albergue is reserved for pilgrims so should be no busier than normal.

I recommend "Pension Pena", a nice private room with several shared bathrooms. I met a few Spanish pilgrims there who just arrived off the Camino Tunnel Route (Camino Vasco del Interior).

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
