Time of past OR future Camino
May 2024-Norte and Primitive
I am hiking the Norte and Primitive routes starting May 16, 2024. This will be my first Camino. I have access to the Buen Camino app, Gronze, and a guidebook which are all excellent at providing information on the trail options, places to stay, maps, etc. However, they all are limited at giving detailed descriptions of points of interest along the way. I want to make sure I take advantage of the diverse cultural options along the way. Does anyone have recommendations on detailed resources that identify and describe these points of interest on the Norte and Primitive routes. Are there different guidebooks or web resources available that will help me plan my adventure?

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
If you are using the Gronze website, don't neglect the "Al Loro" (To the parrot) tab. It has some of this information and is often overlooked.
Thank you so much. I had not noticed this tab. It looks to be very informative.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Good guidance above from David Tallen and Trecile. FWIW, I put together a list of "Suggestions" for some friends who were walking the Norte a few years after we did it: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/kvc0...ons.docx?rlkey=uzwie142v7ic56fl0ygl0cslc&dl=0

It includes suggestions on museums and other places to see, and also a few suggestions on some of the many alternativos on the Norte. The document is limited to the Norte, but when we walked the Primitivo at another time, we were much taken by the Ethnographic Museum in Grandas. Re-creates typical rooms in Spain over the last 200 years. Fascinating.

I'm sure I was originally steered to these places by either Wise Pilgrim or Dave Whitsun's Cicerone book, since I had them both with me (on my phone).

This is so helpful. Thank you so much.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
