I am very happy to announce that the second book in The Camino Chronicles, St James´Rooster, is available as of today in English. Who was Diego Gelmirez and why is it that without him there would be no pilgrimage route at all! This book will enlighten you as to the history of the Camino like no other (and I challenge any historian to fault me on this one!)
Three years in the research, more than a year in the writing, the story of Priscillian finds a new home in the Middle Ages. Welcome to Compostela 1100 CE.

and if you haven't read Pilgrimage to Heresy now is your chance to do so for free! Today and tomorrow only see Amazon Kindle (you don´t need a Kindle. You can download onto your PC or Mac).

Thanks for the links Tracey. We hope we enjoy the new book as much as the first one

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Thank you Ivar! It was a long haul getting here and now we are waiting for the publicagtion in Spanish too. They changed the name (still not entirely happy about that but...) to El Báculo de Santiago. A baculo is a bishops staff and he who holds the baculo holds the power. A lesser known use if the term, however, translates to bastón or bordon: yes, a pilgrim´s stick!
Most pilgrims will never have even heard of Diego Gelmirez yet he was the first archbishop of Compostela and he truly put the name Santiago in the city as he brought weath and fame to it with the publication of both the (now imfamous) "Codex Calixtinus" and the (to me far more valuable as a statement of historical relevance) Historia Compostelana (still unfortunately not translated). I will even go so far as to say that without Diego there would be no "Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage" as we know it today. He was a figurre of immense power and influence between 1l00 and 1140 and the astonishing fact is that he simply vanished! He was both loved and hated and nobody has the slightest idea what happened to his body after he died.
(Nobody but me, of course!)
Read St James´Rooster and enjoy!

Priscilien Wood

Montsegur
Splendid! When you're doing fieldwork there please find “The forest around the legendary castle of Muntsalvaesche was called Briciljan. Near Montsegur is a small forest called the Priscilien Wood.” and please take a picture of a signpost. Merci beaucoup, mon ami!
PS: And please listen carefully how the locals pronounce Briciljan and Pricilien.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
This weekend coming, St James Rooster will be offered free on Amazon Kindle. If you would like to know who was Archbishop Diego Gelmirez and why without him you prob'ly never would even have HEARD of the Camino, now´s your chance.
Would write more but...
Happy reading!
Tracy

Looks like fun. I bought it today, because I would hate to not pay something for it!
