My husband and I want to walk the Portugal trail to Santiago. We are in our 80's, good health but sometimes stamina gives out! We are looking for a planned tour that has transportation available in case we need to take a break early from the trail every now and then. Any suggestions?
Many thanks,
Kirby

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
You mention "tour" rather than bag transport/accommodation arrangement.

There are "tours" organised by Caminoways here. The advantage is that you get your own instant "Camino family". They are also expensive but then maybe a bit of luxury in later life is deserved.

Might be cheaper and easier just to get a taxi number to call on the days when you need help? I have seen supported tours like this Sarria to Santiago but I've not been on the Portuguese. Usually they have groups of varying size which walk a few "highlights " and then bus the rest of the way. The bus drops off and picks up and you are booked into hotels, etc with luggage transport. I have not seen an on call tour which is why I suggest a daily taxi number instead unless you are truly wanting a tour group.

I (M65) did the full Camino Frances in 2022. My 87 year old father joined me in Sarria. Each day we looked at the map and he would go 6-10 KM depending on the terrain. Usually at lunch he would taxi ahead and be waiting for me at our pre-booked lodging (b**king.c**). Worked out great and he wants to sign up for the Portuguese this Fall.

Take a look at Portugal Green Walks. They have a planned walk from Porto to Santiago that they will customize according to your wishes. They offer transportation if you need it. I did the Portuguese Coastal with a friend last year in May. I suggest cutting the walking miles per day to begin with. It’s easy to get a taxi in most areas but planning ahead for your needs is good.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
