Hello!

I’m starting my Camino soon (having never done anything like it before) and I wanted to check, do I need to bring anything/ register anywhere first in order to get my Pilgrim Passport in Saint Jean?

Thank you :)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
No. Just turn up and ask for a credencial in the pilgrim office. They will ask for your details for their statistics but you do not have to be registered anywhere to walk a Camino.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

They do charge a couple Euros for it.
When you go into the Pilgrim office in SJPP (it is actually a pretty small place) there will be about 5 staff members sitting at desks. You will sit down with one of them a they will provide basic info and answer questions. Be sure to get the one who speaks English.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

And another attempt looms, to buy a decent Poncho after trying and failing in the previous two likely towns. Anyone know where an Altos or similar might be bought in Leon, please? 😁
