Hello friends, I am looking at routes to take this spring - from early April to mid/late May 2018 and can't decide between the Le Puy route and the Arles route. Would be grateful for any thoughts. Thanks, Steve.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Le Puy is my choice. Will be walking from Arles in September this year, but have done the Le Puy route twice. It is beautiful.

Prepare for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island, Oct 27 to Nov 2
Have not walked the Arles route, but agree that Le Puy, especially the early parts, is spectacularly beautiful. It goes through some very quiet (i.e. depopulated) areas, so some forward planning (e.g. you may not find a cafe/restaurant/grocery open on Sunday or Monday) but also some lovely villages and small towns. I will be doing it again, DV.

Thanks for the input Glenshiro.

le puy is more beautiful, in my opinion. easter holidays are especially busy on its first and most popular part to conques. check the weather conditions as it may snow even in may!

arles from st guilhelm-le-désert to castres is also very nice. and the part from oloron into spain, of course.

Thank you caminka. It seems like there will be lots of wonderful walking for me in the coming years. Steve

Is it really necessary to reserve the gites in France or is it ok just to arrive? I'm mainly referring to stages from Lourdes - Orolon Sainte Marie- Somport and before end of October
