Hello.

I'm very pleased to have found this discussion board. It looks like a great resource. Thank you, Ivar.

I, together with a few others, will be walking the Camino for the first time, starting in just a few weeks, at the end of May. We have only about one week for walking, and are considering starting our walk at Sarria.

We are flying from Toronto, Canada to Lisbon and, after taking a day to visit Fatima, will make our way up to the Camino. Does anyone have suggestions as to the best way to reach Sarria: train? bus? Are there any good web sites for planning such things from afar?

No doubt I'll have a few questions as we make our preparations for the trip. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Craig,

Welcome to the board!

There has been a discussion thread about "how to get from Lisbon to Santiago" earlier. Please take a look here:
viewtopic.php?t=95

Then another one on "how to get from Santiago to Sarria" here:
viewtopic.php?t=111

The question is, do you have to go via Santiago? Maybe not, there is a bus from Vigo - Lugo it is leaving Vigo at 16:30 arriving Lugo 20:30. Then you just need to see how this fits in with your arrival time in Vigo and so on. But it can be an option.

Have a look here to do you own search for the dates that you are traveling:

Just so that you get an idea about distances here is a map:
santiago_sarria.gif

Vigo - Santiago about 1 hour 10 minutes by car, a bit more by bus.
Santiago - Lugo About 2 hours by car, about 2 hours 30 minutes by bus.

I hope this helps and Welcome to Santiago!

Ivar
