From winchester to Mont St Michel

I am attempting to walk to Santiago from Winchester via Mont St Michel following the Lightfoot route. However, between Cherbourg and Barfleur it does not provide a walkable route and assumes you will be taking the bus. Can anyone suggest a walkable route or would it be advisable to utilize the bus?

there are 2 official routes from Cherbourg, one via the W coast and one across country to Montebourg http://www.lescheminsdumontsaintmichel. ... ue21&lang=
If you really want to go via Barfleur (which seems a bit of a detour) you can use the coast path GR223.
