Walking in Bits and Pieces
Time of past OR future Camino
Ingles fr. Ferrol 8/2024
For those who have done multiple routes, which “final stage” do you think is the most scenic way to enter SdC?

Last August I walked in on the Frances, and then in December on the Portugues, which I found to be much more enjoyable than walking past the airport. This coming August, I will do it on the Ingles, and am thinking about taking a taxi out to Outerio the following day and walking the last stage of the VDLP, just to see a fourth way to enter SDC. Would this be worthwhile?

Certainly the entry on the Portuguese is more attractive than from the Frances, and in my view the entry on the Ingles is even nicer. Most attractive of all was coming in from Finisterre and Muxia. That has greenery till just before you reach buildings, with a great view of the cathedral then a bit on attractive city streets and bang you're in the Obradoiro.
But the experience of arriving in Santiago is a matter of what's inside as well as outside. On that basis, my first arrival, through those dreary industrial and shopping areas after walking the Frances, was by far the best.

As a person who has experienced 3 different ones I'll admit that the only thing I like about any entrance so far is the feelings of joy. I've just not enjoyed the journey through town. Full disclosure: I don't like cities!
