Entry to Burgos

We walked in to Burgos yesterday (April 19) and it appears that the route around the left side of the airport and through the park is currently inaccessible due to construction and at very least it’s very difficult to find. No one we spoke with found an easy walk-around. I suppose you could drop down to the park once you’re entering the fringes of the city. The walk up Calle Vitoria is punishing. There are buses that will save you the 1.5 hours on the pavement, 1.20€.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Update, apparently the alternate route is open, if you can find it in the construction mess. Someone coming the opposite direction pointed some friends in the correct direction. Good luck!

You can still walk it. But the entrance point is not marked currently.

After Orbaneja Riopico there's a bridge. Also some houses and trash cans. That's where the routes divide.

Go left there at the Trash cans, then at the rest stop / sports area / playground, Go right. At that point it is marked again.

I walked it a few days ago without any problem.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

You pick up the bus no 8 at VillaFria after the airport and it will get you into Burgos city center

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
