CSJ Salvador Guide: New Second Edition!

Rebekah Scott

Camino Busybody
Time of past OR future Camino
Many, various, and continuing.
It´s now up on the CSJ site:

[Link edited by Ivar]

It may not answer all your questions... it may raise even more! The new map somehow was edited out... but this is the guide many of you beta-tested and helped to write. Have a look, post your comments here!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Very good, I read it completely
One little remark on page 19 (Word file)
"A few kms along is a well-marked split, a choice between continuing downhill to San Miguel (picturesque, but no place to stay) or the town of Pajares "
It must be "A few hundred meters...."

@Rebekah Scott - Next year we are looking to the Inglés but are talking about the Camino del Salvador for 2016 (DV). Is there likely to be another update in 2015 anytime? before we download a guide. Concentrating on 2015 planning at present, but sneaking looks at various blogs and other resources for 2016 too.

Join the Camino cleanup. Logroño to Burgos May 2025 & Astorga to OCebreiro in June
Hi, Tia,
I'm assuming you've already seen Ender's guide, but for anyone walking the Salvador, it is extremely comprehensive and full of pictures: http://www.slideshare.net/mobile/caminodelsalvador/guia-ingles-del-camino-del-salvador

I'm sure there are lots of us who will be happy to try to help you get the stages into your comfort zone, so give a holler when you start to plan! Buen camino, Laurie

p.s. Actually Ender has already done all that work. If you look at his 8 day suggestion (which has some misnumbering), the Pajares to Pola de Lena stage is the only one in the 20s. It's 26 and can easily be broken into two with a stop in Campomanes.

No, but thank you for the link. I was just making sure that the new CSJ link was in place. Ivar edited the original post with the link which covers the paper guides, and hopefully CSJ will put a link there to the online guides.
We will look at Ender's guide if we do walk the Salvador next year. Concentrating on this year at present. :)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
We stayed at Pola de Lena in June 2014. When we crossed the river and went through the little concrete tunnel, the only arrows we could find pointed left and were bright pink. We ignored them and turned right because it "felt right". When we came to the police station we called in to ask for directions, but they did not have a clue about where an albergue was. However, a friendly local stopped his car when he saw us standing on the street looking lost and told us where to go. The albergue was NOT gender-segregated (at least, not the night we were there). The showers were wonderful!
