Hola
Does anyone have contact details for the Albergue Casa Violeta in Huenja
Gracias
Hello again Mick

Violeta is on WhatsApp
If memory serves me - she speaks good English. I enjoyed it there.
Although it’s in Huéneja - it’s at the top of the hill as you walk in.
That is : A good climb back to the accommodation after you spend time in town.

If she's busy when you arrive, her husband Pepe will look after you, and Violeta will send you his number.

Buen Camino!
Andrew
I think you and Rachel were pretty special. Violeta just told me where to find the key.
She did come round though when I had a problem with the shower.

How did you like the accommodation? Can you describe it please. My understanding is that there is also another place in town Hostal Gonzalez. Has anyone stayed there?

It is quaint. You pass by it on entrance to Huéneja.. unusual artwork etc. I was on my own so I had choice of which room to sleep in. Violeta leaves local nuts and a few supplies. Honey etc.
I walked down into Huéneja to eat on arrival and then realised the casa violeta was back ‘up’ the hill / pass it on arrival.
Therefore I didn’t return to the centre later. I cooked something in the kitchen. I was more than comfortable but depending on what you like (not 5 star ). I like these homey places.
Also I don’t think I was aware of any other place. So back to choosing what suits you
Annie.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Hostal González is about 2km out of town, and it is on the autovía. There's a restaurant there, which means you don't need to go back to Huéneja to eat. You have to come back to Huéneja to get back on the Camino.

There is also an albergue in a disused building next to the primary school. There is a shop and a bar that sold tapas, not meals. The albergue is adequate, although the shower drain was blocked when I was there in March 2023. (I'm a do-it-yourselfer, but I couldn't fix the drain.) There's a kitchen where one can cook.

Thank you for the great description. It sounds like my kind of place.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Many and lots more to come.
I stayed at Casa Violeta a few weeks ago and it is fabulous. I absolutely loved staying there and in fact stayed 2 nights. Violeta and Pepe are incredibly kind people ! They provided me with lots of wood for the fireplace and visited their farm. Super people and gorgeous house. The foundation and lower level dates back to the Moors. Stay there and NOT at the mediocre albergue.IMG_20231126_162138347.jpgIMG_20231126_162454096_BURST000_COVER_TOP.jpgIMG_20231126_161706933.jpg
