New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
I would advise you to get a credential in advance, Munsterlaura, as you will get a stamp at the Church of Santiago but not a credential. I started at Baiona and obtained my credential from the Confraternity of St James (London). You will have no difficulty obtaining one online, although your source will depend upon where you live. As for coffee breaks, once you leave the outskirts of Vigo, there is nowhere for coffee until you are near to Redondela, unless you deviate from the Camino. Tom

I agree with Tom; best to obtain your credencials booklet in your home country before you leave. You don't want to be scrambling around at the last minute trying to find one. As he also noted, you can obtain a sello from the Santiago de Vigo church, although in 2018 we had to track down the priest, who took us into a back room to stamp it. Unlike Portuguese churches, Spanish churches don't often leave the stamp kits out in public view for the peregrinos to "self service."
There is a very nice cafe/tapas bar called O Eido Vello Cabanas located by the side of the trail about midway between Vigo and Redondela, which is a perfect place for a coffee break before resuming your walk. You can find it on Google Maps. Note that it's closed on Thursdays. We discovered that to our chagrin when we passed by there in 2019. Had been looking forward to that cáfe con leche!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
With regard to the tapas bar, well spotted, Kenwilltravel. I didn't notice it! Tom
