Camino options (Francés vs. Norte) for September through October

Time of past OR future Camino
Sept-Oct 2023
Hello,

I have begun planning my first Camino for early September through mid October. The 2 I am considering are either Frances or Norte. I prefer Norte but due to the timing and weather my current assumption is that route is best in the May time frame as the mid September to October will be cooler and rainy. However, I have read locating lodging on the Norte is difficult will probably be easier in Sept - October. Also note I am in good shape with exercise, hiking and run (6-7 miles) each day.

1. what route is best recommended for early fall?
2. are my assumptions correct on the Del Norte?
3. Out side of the first few days should I reserve lodging each night or just plan a few days ahead when on the route?
thanks

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

In my experience, they're both good in terms of the weather-- there will be a few windier days on the del Norte, but I havve always found the wettest days to be in Galicia. But in coastal regions, the weather has its own mind.... On the del Norte, I would make a point of booking in advance in the stretch between Iirun & Bilbao, where there are not many options. As well, if you are going to favour albergues, there are fewer options on the del Norte while the Francese is well-equipped with albergue accommodation. The last 100km to Santiago is a different planet and you might profit by advance booking there-- remember that almost half of all compostelas are issued to those who start in the last 100-150 km of Santiago.
